My students need basic materials like magnetic letters and numbers that they have been lacking for the past year!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students, five and six year olds, face the achievement gap every day. Coming to school, they are crammed 27 per class and expected to perform at a level that even they aren't sure of. My students are driven, and come to school every day to become "first grade ready."
My students are often looked at as low performers.
Hailing from one of the worst elementary schools in our city, my students fight the odds every day. Inside the classroom, they are driven, ready to learn and realize, even at their young age, what they need to do to become scholars for life.
Everyday, I am inspired by my students and the wealth of experience and knowledge they have about the world each day. I am blessed to be able to learn alongside my students, instead of just teaching them.
My Project
I am requesting materials ranging from magnetic easels and learning trays to manipulatives my students had a desperate need for this year. With these materials, my students will be able to have more hands-on time to learn instead of being lectured or watching their peers play with the limited materials we do have. Not only will my students be able to interact with materials, they will also be able to learn the importance of sharing knowledge with one another.
My students deserve every opportunity they can get their hands on, and using these materials will help them immensely in exploring their world.
It is my hope that these materials will push them to be the scholars they know they can be for life.
