Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
It is not uncommon for middle school students to feel shy or nervous about presenting their ideas to their classmates. It can be very challenging for students to feel confident in their knowledge and ability to express their thoughts clearly in front of others. Each week this year, different students have had the opportunity to teach their peers about the new math concepts that they have learned by writing and presenting various problems on large whiteboards in the classroom.
This whiteboard will provide one additional student each week with the opportunity to teach their peers about what we are learning in class.
My students have really valued the chance to practice new language and math vocabulary, engage each other in conversations about content, and help each other grasp challenging concepts. Each week I can see my students become more confident in themselves and more willing to step out of their comfort zones in the classroom.
