My Project

My intervention groups meet daily to support struggling readers. Although reading is a difficult task for them, they work very hard.

Daily word reading and writing practice allow my students to develop those skills needed to become stronger lifelong readers.

Students are provided with explicit instruction that include established rountines and multiple opportunities to practice reading. New spelling patterns are introduced and reviewed. My students will use dry erase markers on their whiteboards to write the words using these newly learned spelling patterns. Sight word cards are displayed in the pocket charts. Students can reference the pocket chart throughout the lesson. Throughout the week, students earn points that can be used to visit the treasure box. Although our treasure box has a variety of items to choose from, most students opt to get the kinetic sand packets, lip gloss, and slime containers. My students are motivated to work even harder.
