My Students

Do you remember how much easier it was for you to learn something when the learning was engaging and "fun"?

My students are children of poverty.

They have learned to do the best with what they have, but that simply is not good enough when it comes to education. The deserve the best. They have so much to overcome and so many things stacked against them, all I want is to give them a leg up in the world. I want something to be easy for them; just one time. My students come from homes that are unable to provide them experiences to enrich their education. They need things brought to them at school for them to better understand what they are learning. These materials would do that.

My Project

My students need basic items such as notebook paper and tablet charts. The items I chose will help to make their education more hands-on. Some of the items will add movement to our lessons. Most of the items will be used in work stations (or centers). The majority of our day is spent in literacy and math centers, so having the right materials would go a long way to improving their education and help them to be excited to learn new things. For example, there are balls they can toss to one another and answer questions about the story they are reading. They can use this in a small group or we can even go outside and toss it as a class to have a change in environment and to have some movement. There is a packet of math file folder games so that I can improve our math centers. Math centers are something we are working on improving this year as a grade level.

These items will provide my students will the things they need to enjoy learning and improve their understanding by making things hands-on.

These are things I can use for years to come to impact not only my students, but my future students as well. These are things that can also be shared with my grade level to help other second grade students. Please make a difference in the lives of my students. Please help them to have a high-quality education.
