This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class is an inclusion class comprised of students with special needs and general education students. We are a Title I school and we serve a socioeconomically disadvantaged population in the heart of San Jose. About 67% of our students are English Language Learners. Our students love learning and try really hard to achieve in academics.

Our goal is to provide our students with the best learning environment possible, where they feel energized and empowered to explore and learn in the world.

My Project

Currently, each of our students has an assigned desk where they do their work. As the year ends and we anticipate the coming year, we would like to move to a flexible seating arrangement - where students can pick a place to study that best meets their needs.

Your donation will help provide my students with a new flex-space rectangular floor table by allowing those who work best sitting on the floor a comfortable option for doing work.

Additionally, working at a table will help students build important 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, and flexibility.

Each of my students has distinct needs, and the purchase of a new floor table will help move us towards a classroom that accommodates the variety of learning styles.
