This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hi! I am the teacher of a class full of 30 bright and independent third grade scholars! The scholars in my class come from the inner city of Chicago, and most receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our charter school serves scholars in grades K-6 and provides the academic foundation to earn a college degree. With this in mind, scholars are pushed to their limits and given rigorous academic work and feedback to prepare them for success. We are a Level 1 plus school and pride ourselves on having high standards and expectations for our scholars!
To break the cycle of poverty, college readiness is crucial.
These scholars are exposed to many things at such a young age. Coming from such low income backgrounds, these children are denied crucial necessities like technology. Communicating with the outside world in this day and age is something these children need to experience. Through technology, my scholars will be able to communicate, conduct research, and see the world in a whole new way!
My Project
My students work very hard, and are very smart! They are constantly working hard to stay above grade level content, and need something to show for it! They work so hard, and would like something to show for it! My students would greatly appreciate incentives or prizes to continue their thirst for knowledge.
My students work so hard, and now I want them to play hard.
With these classroom supplies, my students will know that all of their hard work is not going by unnoticed or unacknowledged. Even the smallest form of prizes or incentives are enough to make my students work even harder!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
