Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project will significantly enhance the learning experience for English Language Learners (ELLs) by providing them with essential tools, bilingual and academic dictionaries.

Research shows it can take up to seven years for ELLs to acquire academic language proficiency.

However, with access to dictionaries, students can begin making meaningful connections between their native language and academic English much sooner.

These resources will empower students to independently decode unfamiliar vocabulary during instruction, reading, and assessments. As a result, students will gain confidence, improve comprehension, and actively participate in classroom discussions and activities.

Many of our ELL students face language barriers that hinder their academic progress. Without access to dictionaries, they often struggle to understand key vocabulary, which affects their confidence and achievement. These dictionaries are not just tools; they are bridges to understanding, participation, and success.

By equipping our classroom with these resources, you are giving our students the opportunity to thrive academically and linguistically.
