Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our second-grade classroom, I have students learning English as a new language. They’re bright, curious, and full of potential, but often struggle to express themselves or understand what they’re reading because of limited vocabulary. I see firsthand how much more confident and engaged they become when they know the words around them. I want to build a set of vocabulary centers that will help my students grow their language skills in a fun and supportive way.

The ELL games library will offer fun, interactive games where kids can build vocabulary through play and conversation which is so important for English learners.

The Lakeshore Science of Reading Vocabulary bundle will give students hands-on, research based practice with words they’ll see in texts and lessons. The vocabulary development photo card libraries will help students make real world connections to new words using beautiful, clear images. These tools are perfect for small group work, centers, or independent practice.

My students are excited to learn. They just need the right supports to help them access the language that opens up the world of reading, writing, and understanding. With your help, I can give them materials that meet them where they are and help them grow word by word. Thank you for considering our classroom!
