My Students
Your donation could make all the difference in the education of small children who often do not have the basic skills they need to build on. Their inner-city neighborhood has many challenges that children in more affluent areas couldn't imagine.
My students come to first grade full of hope and promise.
It is difficult for them to read the books and other materials that are supplied to their grade level. Some have a parent that works many jobs and cannot be there to help them learn. Others have parents who are new to the country and haven't yet mastered the language.
My Project
My students want to read so badly! They look at books, at the pictures and at the words they do not yet know and just want to read.
Struggling readers often see classmates reading books that they themselves can only look at.
My little ones need to practice letter sounds and word fluency but need to do it in a fun way so they do not end up frustrated and quit trying. There are few things more heartbreaking than to see small children already feel less than they can be.
The letter and word game kits I am requesting will help my students by building the confidence they need to keep improving their literacy levels.
