This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing human beings! They are full of life and have endless potential to do so many wonderful things. My school is a Title I school in a poverty-stricken​ community.

Our school consists of a very large English language learner population.

All of our students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of our parents struggle to help meet the needs of school supplies and the needs of their children. Regardless of these circumstances, my students overcome! They are learning how to face challenges and grow stronger academically, socially, and emotionally, preparing them for the next level of life.

I believe that these students deserve every opportunity this world has to offer and I am determined to help them get it.

These students can change the world with their brilliant minds and can climb out of the cycle of poverty through the gift of education. They will learn that the world is theirs for the taking with hard work, dedication, and knowledge.

My Project

Two years ago after state testing I decided to try a reading experiment. Share each page of the wordless picture books and give my students time to write what they see on each page. I honestly didn't think they'd enjoy writing that much, but they LOVED it! Last year I brought it back virtually and the students loved it too!

Students let their imagination soar and learn so many standards through wordless picture books!

You might say, you've done this two years just fine, why do a project? Great question! I created this project because I only have three wordless picture books. Instead of waiting until May, I want to give my students to "read" these books now! Little did I know there are tons of them!

Students are constantly reading words, pictures, and emotions in their lives! Why not do it through books!
