This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my classroom of multilingual learners, we are learning through multi leveled word study groups. I have created flexible groups to study words from their phonemic level to their Greek and Latin roots. Student work in partners or small groups sorting word cards, writing stories, finding words in their reading books and other activities to help build our understanding of academic English.
Adding a classroom laminator would allow me to create sturdy, durable word cards for our literacy center.
These cards can be kept by students through out the week in their literacy folders and be used again by other groups later in the year. Students can hang the cards in the learning center for quick access during independent work and writing blocks. A gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers would help us build out our leveled word study activities.
