My Students

My first graders are a group of little people who are excited to be back to "In-person" learning. They are readers, writers, mathematicians, explorers, problem-solvers, and will one day become great leaders. As expected, they delight in learning. I now have the great opportunity to teach a group of zealous and diverse learners in-person and through technology! They are learning how to value one another by listening, sharing and helping one another. We all have the common goal of making learning our priority. In our school family, we are also learning to recognize our differences and appreciate them. Our school is a larger community of students with a growth mindset where we learn from our mistakes and persevere through difficult moments to achieve academic success.

My Project

Recently my students have been highly engaged with the MagnaTiles. They love building and creating, and the magnets makes it easier for their creations to stick together! When I researched and found the Double Sided Magnetic Letter Tiles I became excited thinking this would be a great way to incorporate language arts by teaching Sight Words, Word Families, etc.

Students could also enjoy some scientific fun with the magnets which helps improves coordination and fine motor skills.

They can explore the science of magnets and property of attraction on their own through play!

Lastly, it's always a good idea to have a designated area in the classroom for different activities. Students love expanding their learning space, and a comfortable rug could be used for this purpose alone.
