Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are students with autism that range from grades TK-2. Sensory toys are toys that provide the particular sensory input that many children with autism crave. Whether it is visual or tactile, the toys have the power to capture our kids' attention, making the right sensory toy a powerful reinforcer (reward) in applied behavioral analysis (ABA) programs.
Some sensory toys are also excellent fidget toys and can improve concentration and focus in children with ADHD and anxiety and others who need to keep their hands busy to listen and attend.
Students are learning how to read and write CVC words, these sensory bells, lap pad, magnetic letters and other activities will help support their tactile needs and give them a different modality of learning.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
