Woodworking Preschoolers

Help me give my students some real wood working tools and safety gear to build dexterity and fine motor skills while they create projects of their very own!

My Students

My students are a playful, creative and thoughtful group of 3-5 year olds with a variety of learning abilities. Coming from diverse backgrounds, my class includes a mixture of both typically developing students and exceptional students.

With these materials, my students will gain vital developmental skills as they plan and problem solve while building with real tools.

Young children love to create. They love to build with blocks, create artwork and complete puzzles independently. These materials will help my students explore and build as they learn how to use wood working tool safely.

My Project

Building is a daily activity in our classroom. Usually, my preschoolers build with traditional wooden blocks, foam blocks, or various packing materials and cardboard that I bring into the classroom. My students love to create and they especially love to create things that last.

By donating to our project, you will not only help my students with another mode of creativity, but you will also be assisting in both fine motor development and problem solving skills.

Students will be able to use wood scraps (with pre-drilled holes) to create wooden sculptures, art pieces or whatever else they would like. Woodworking is not only an outlet for creativity, it also provides an excellent opportunity for planning and problem solving. While using the tools that I am hoping to receive from this project, my students will gain vital muscle development that will help with both dexterity and fine motor skills.
