Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Social activism takes many forms in the Tech Cafe (our Makerspace). Currently, we are exploring the detrimental effects that nicotine and vaping have on our body and mind.
To this end, many middle school students are creating Anti-Vaping Board Games for elementary school students to play.
Within these games, players spin a wheel to determine which space they land on. On good spaces healthy habits win you points. On bad spaces players learn facts--like how nicotine rewires your brain and vaping liquid causes lung infections.
To create professional games, we are laser-cutting spinners and other game elements. Laser-cutting wood is pricey and we could really use your help!
