Help me give my students an outdoor immersive learning experience. Students will be able to create a compost in the classroom from school-generated waste. They will then use this compost in our school garden.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students have become fascinated by owls through our Mystery Science platform and the Human Body Anchor lessons associated with them. This is where we will begin our journey with the dissection of owl pellets and an introduction to the life cycle.
After this exploration, we will discuss the integral part of worms and fungi as decomposers in the ecosystem.
This will lead to the development of our classroom compost, using waste generated from the school cafeteria. Eventually, we will produce enough compost and transfer that to our outdoor tumbler.
Finally, with the classroom-created compost, the children will enter an immersive learning environment and plant several plants in the school garden. One section will be utilizing the compost and the other will be using just the natural soil from the garden. They will compare and contrast how beneficial the compost is and ultimately how the proper use of garbage can lead to a bright and prosperous future.
