My students need copies of class sets of numerous texts. The novels they need are Wonder, Because of Mr. Terupt, and Stone Fox.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose." The students in our classroom are my inspiration. They work incredibly, hard considering many of them are coming from challenging backgrounds. Despite these difficulties, every single one of them has a great deal of potential that is waiting to be tapped.
I have 25 wonderfully curious 4th graders from incredibly diverse communities.
Many do not speak English at home, and others have individualized education plans. This diversity makes our classroom a perfect microcosm of the real world. During our learning journey this year, we will learn to read with purpose and in the process foster a life-long love of reading. At our school, students come together to learn, and to succeed in a rigorous academic curriculum that prepares them to work toward a great future.
My Project
The materials we are asking for are texts that we can use for guided reading and independent reading. Currently, we have one copy of "Wonder" and are only to able to delve into the novel using a read aloud. The students really would like these books because they are thoroughly enjoying the text so far. They would like to have a copy they could use to sift through the book to search for evidence and become excellent close readers. They will also enjoy reading Because of Mr. Terupt and Stone Fox.
I want to captivate my students in grade-level texts that will create a positive example, and make them want to become readers for enjoyment. They will get a great sense of achievement in reading books that will make them feel successful and help them reach their potential.
Your donations will allow every child to have direct access to a grade level text.
Especially for struggling readers, research shows that tracking the text while reading aloud helps with comprehension. This strategy also improves every student's decoding and fluency. Ultimately, this will lead them in their goal to becoming life-long readers!
