This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a creative bunch and are excited to begin a unit on sculpture this Spring. At the recent NAEA National Convention I observed a lesson and got to create a 3D sculpture from paper straws and twisteez. I really believe my students would LOVE this! It is nothing like anything we have done before in our classroom. Students will cut the paper straws and weave the twisteez through to create three-dimensional geometric sculptures inspired by Modern sculptors like David Smith. Students can even paint them to look like they are made from traditional sculpting materials like metal. Please consider donating to this awesome project.
