Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are enthusiastic but often lack the motivation to work on their classwork. They also need support with English speaking and listening. Most are English learners and are struggling in their English Language Arts class.
My students come from a diverse school in a large city.
Part of the school is a magnet with students from all over the city. My students are comprised mainly of residential students from the local low-income neighborhood. Most are English learners, as well.
My Project
We have silent reading daily and the students like to shop the bookcase in class for reading material. However, over the years, our class library has been depleted.
Help us replenish our class book selection with current novels that are at grade level and interesting to high school students.
The students also need staples and labels to organize and store their class materials. These books and supplies allow the students to select the reading books and get the materials they need. These supplies provide students choice in their own education.
