My Students
My students are hardworking kids who love to learn new things. We are part of a Title I school where most of the students fall below the low income poverty line. Despite their circumstances, they come to school each day ready to learn and be better students. My students love to read and be creative in their progression of learning. I like to have them branch out of the normal way of doing things and explore knowledge from different angles.
My Project
The book "Wonder" is a relevant book with a wonderful message for young kids today. It is about embracing differences and being kind despite the peer pressure to not. I have used it as a read aloud, but with the huge amount of positive reactions I have received from it, I would love to do this as a class project. I believe this is a book every child should read, and the message can be used across all ages.
I want to use this book in my classroom as a way to show that no matter who you are, what you look like, or where you are from, you are important and can make a difference.
That it does not cost anything to just be kind. If you have not read Wonder yet, I would highly recommend it.
