My Students
My school has a diverse group of learners. There are families from different socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as ethnic backgrounds. As an equity leader for my students, I want to provide impactful reading instruction for my students so they can be successful learners. They all want to learn and most book choices have been from online sources. They have enjoyed stories of bravery, courage, and empathy. Their social-emotional well being is often helped with books.
My Project
All of our students have been amazing with their persistence to learn virtually. Literacy is an important skill for my students, but teaching a love of reading is my ultimate goal. The students have listened to read alouds and books online. They have been drawn to stories of persistence, bravery, and empathy. I want them to share the experience of all having a book of their own during a virtual class book club.
Kindness brings us together no matter how far apart we are.
Each of my students will benefit from having their own copy of the book Wonder. Each of us can learn so much about each other when empathy is nurtured.
