My Students
By the end of the school year I want my students to be able to critically think about what they've read and the media they encounter. I want them to also know how to write persuasively about what they have read and how to present that information accurately.
My school is a rural school that is the center of the community.
The school has a long tradition of basketball. Many of the children have families who have been in the community for several generations. The school is the hub of the community with rich traditions.
My Project
The books I selected will help meet my students needs and present them with the research material they need that can be used in Texas's research, informational, and persuasive units for high school English. I teach 3 high school grades and can see these books being used in different units in each of the grades I teach.
My students need more exposure to things happening around the world.
This women's history project will help expose them to conditions and cultures around the around and within other parts of our own country. I've chosen books about diverse women and books at different reading levels to meet our students needs. These books will open my students eyes to other cultures and expand their views on what roles/jobs women are capable of.
