Help me give my students wobble seats and classroom storage to help increase there focus, maintain their engagement, and increase their love of learning.
Visualize entering a room on a daily basis where you can be or do anything that you set your mind to no matter your age, race or socioeconomic status. That is the kind of atmosphere that I try to foster each and every day within my classroom. When my students enter the room, they know that they can achieve any goal that they set their minds to despite any challenges and obstacles that they may face.
My fabulous students are very energetic, and they are constantly ready to absorb new information and excel, this compels me to make sure that I provide them with the tools necessary to succeed.
I teach 17 students, 7 girls ( 1 Caucasian and 6 African American) and 9 boys (African American). All of my students come from a low socioeconomic status and one hundred percent of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are definitely hard workers and are an absolute joy to teach!
My Project
We can all remember sitting in class in traditional seats trying so desperately to sit up and pay attention. Although we wanted to learn, at times we lacked the motivation to do so at the moment. This scenario is how my students feel while at school, while trying to listen and be engaged in the lesson. I have observed this behavior first hand throughout the past five years as a classroom teacher.
All of my students come to school so vivacious and ready to learn, but it is challenging to retain their attention throughout the school day with a restricted amount of recess time and free movement.
I try my best to implement brain breaks between subjects to help them release their flow of energy, but they still need more stimulation. Students with hyperactivity and attention issues struggle to stay focused and learn to the best of their ability. The wobble chairs that I am requesting would greatly help all of my wonderful students, especially those who have additional learning concerns to focus and reach their learning goals throughout the year. If my children are able to keep their focus, they will have increased achievement and confidence! These interactive seating options will also help increase their drive to come to school and learn, learn, learn! I am also requesting a small storage cart. A lot of my students get distracted by playing in their desk with supplies while the lesson is being taught. My students need this additional storage to help store materials and supplies, so they won't serve as a distraction from learning.
