My Students

My students are happy, creative, and eager to learn. They love to be active and to interact with their peers. They love to learn from their mistakes and teach others the things they have learned. Each day they come to school ready to learn and to help their friends learn!

My energetic first graders are always willing to try new things.

They learn best the more interactive the activity is, and they often have trouble sitting still for long periods of time. At age 6, their bodies are still growing and they have a lot of wiggles. Recess, PE, and brain breaks are some of their favorite parts of the day, and they love to learn!

My Project

My students have a constant need to move while learning. They transition from their seats to the rug often, but it is not enough. I would love to give my students the option of having a choice of how to sit while they are working, as well as give them the option of a built in wiggle break.

My students are noticeably more focused after moving around, and when given the opportunity to move their bodies while working.

The flexible seating options I have selected will be available to them at their desks for them to use throughout the day to help them focus better. The wobble chairs will be an alternative to their chairs. The wobble cushions will allow them to turn the chairs we already have into a flex seating option or will allow them to sit around the room and work. The balance ball chairs will give them another alternative option to a chair, as well as give them flexibility to sit around the room.

I have seen how movement and flexibility have allowed my students to progress and grow, and I hope that addition seating options will help them to continue to learn at high levels!
