Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first graders come from different backgrounds and cultures. In our classroom, we have students who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, Burmese, Kurdish, Arabic, Swahili, and more! We have learned to share and embrace our differences and have become a family. We have built in growth mindset into everyday. We encourage others to make mistakes, try something new, and to not give up. We have created such an amazing classroom community that provides a positive environment to learn so many things! They come to school everyday ready to learn and to try something new.
My Project
My students love to learn in the classroom and in our class we like to move! We are always utilizing the whole classroom space, adding in brain breaks, stretching, and more. Even with all of those breaks, my little first graders love to wiggle and move! They are always moving and it affects their ability to focus in class and complete activities. I have heard such great reviews on wobble chairs from other teachers in my school. It is my hope that getting these wobble chairs, my students will be able control their bodies and stay in their space and give them the ability to move while staying focused.
