My Students
I have the privilege to work with some Super Star Third Graders whose enthusiasm to learn is contagious! They are excited about being in Third grade and all the wonderful things they are going to learn this year. These students have a willingness to learn, have big goals for their future, and a strong desire to make a difference.
As with all things in life these superstars are not without their obstacles.
I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina near a military instillation. From parents deploying, to single parent families, there are many diverse backgrounds. Many of the students in my school receive free or reduced lunch. But despite all of the obstacles these superstars never give up! They will work hard to make big things happen!
My Project
Studies have shown that flexible seating helps to encourage blood flow which helps students stay motivated and focused, which is something that we are trying to embrace in this wonderful Third grade class. We have a very diverse class, with students with many different needs. Currently, at least once a day, a chair is being dropped because we just can't seem to sit still. Instead of fighting against it, I want to embrace it!
We need wobble chairs to offer a way to keep the blood moving while still sitting and getting work done.
With the wobble chairs, students will be able to move in their seats and not be disruptive towards other learners. This will be beneficial in so many ways, by not only impacting their own learning, but the dynamics of the class as a whole!
