My Students

My school serves students that are homeless or have been removed from their home due to abuse, neglect, or truancy. Our students are brought in by local attention homes and homeless shelters. We are a title one school with all of our students qualifying for free/reduced lunch. These students are rotating in and out of my classroom at various times due to their situation.

With the majority of my students preforming below grade level, any tools that can be used to improve the quality of these student's learning experience is critical.

I believe that there is still hope for these students to succeed. I would like to provide them with the tools to reach their educational and personal goals, no matter how much time I have to work with them.

My Project

My students are very active. Sitting still for extended periods of time is a challenge for them. Providing them with seating that allows some movement will give them a chance to focus on the lesson, not the fact that they have to sit still.

It is my goal as an educator to provide the best learning enviroment for my students.

Theses stools will promote active seating. Studies have shown that active seating leads to students being more attentive during direct instruction. This new focus will lead to the students having a better understanding when learning new concepts. Having these stools will assist me with providing the best learning environment for my students.
