My Students
Do you find it hard to focus sitting completely still? Most of my students face this challenge daily.
My students' bodies must constantly move, rock, or fidget while trying to stay on task.
It is a challenge that they try to overcome daily. We spend our days reading, writing, singing, playing, counting, and learning together. We are very busy moving from one activity to the next. They are provided many opportunities to work on the floor and in comfortable work areas, but they are still expected to do some work in chairs.
Sitting in a chair can be very challenging for many of my students. Rocking back and forth feels very natural to them but is not very safe in a typical chair. I want them to be comfortable while working, but I do not want anyone getting hurt by falling out of their seats.
My Project
Hokki stools encourage natural and smooth movement. The convex design of the base actually encourages students to move in all directions! It has a wide top and some padding to make sitting down comfortable while working. This controlled freedom of movement stimulates the entire skeletal system which is therapeutic and helps students to focus on the task.
These Hokki stools will be spread across the room at various stations to allow all students the opportunity to use these alternative but fun stools. Several of my students need to constantly move and be on the go in the classroom. It is my eventual hope to provide these specific students with a Hokki stool all day so they are able to freely and safely move during lessons.
These Hokki stools will help my students to be able to freely move while staying active and engaged while learning.
You will help my students overcome the challenge of sitting still in a hard chair while working. This will allow them to be less distracted and more focused on the task and become excited about learning!
