Wobble Stools for Kinder Wiggles

My Project

Traditional desks aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Some kids focus better with flexible seating, like wobble stools. This gives them agency to choose what works best, and research has shown that choice increases attention, time-on-task, and academic engagement, especially for active learners!

When students are uncomfortable or feel constrained, it often results in disruptive behavior.

Flexible seating offers a more comfortable and inviting environment. This can contribute to a calmer classroom atmosphere.

Additionally, at this age, kids are still developing their core muscles and motor control. Sitting in one position at a desk for long periods is not natural for them - or humans at any age! Wobble stools allow for movement, which helps build strength and coordination while reducing fidgeting.

Lastly, traditional desks can isolate students. Flexible seating arrangements make it easier for children to work together, share materials, and talk. This boosts social development, which is a primary goal in kindergarten.
