Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our fourth grade scholars come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, racial makeup and learning experiences. They are amazing scholars who learn best through movement and hands-on, authentic learning experiences that can be connected to their life.

Our scholars love to learn and love to show what they have learned through authentic, engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Our scholars represent a variety of cultures and home lives. Some scholars are raised by two parents, some by one parent, some by grandparents, and others by foster parents. Regardless, they all come to school ready and eager to learn more about the world and themselves.

Our fourth grade classrooms strive to meet the diverse learning needs of our 30 scholars through authentic learning experiences grounded in real life stories. As educators, we know when a student can relate to the content they are learning and see themselves in the pictures, situations, and circumstances, they learn more. Our goal is to engage our students through meaningful learning so that our students learn and apply all information they learn.

My Project

Students love to move! Research shows that when students move while learning, they learn better. As a teacher, I try to have my students move throughout the instructional day. There are also times when students need to be seated while learning. For my students with attention and focus needs, movement helps them stay more focused during instruction.

By placing a wobble cushion on a chair, the student moves slightly and can still stay seated for instruction and learning.

The end result is better brain stimulation and therefore more learning occurs. For students who need to move frequently, a wobble cushion helps them attend and stay focused for instruction.

The 8 wobble cushions purchased through this project allows students to meet their need for movement and still remain focused during instruction. As an educator, I have seen the benefits of using wobble cushions in the classroom. I want to make as many cushions available to support my scholars as possible.
