My students need Wobble chairs so that they can move around and concentrate better while working on seat work. Second graders have a lot of energy and focus better when they are able to move.
I teach second grade at a charter school in South Jordan, Utah. This is an amazing school which focuses on history and the arts. We like to be up and moving around when possible, but we also have times when we have to buckle down and really concentrate.
My students are energetic and excited about learning.
They come from various backgrounds and their families are very supportive of their education. We learn so much and have so much fun in second grade!
My Project
My second graders have an excessive amount of energy. Sitting still in a hard chair for more than ten minutes is very difficult for them. These stools allow them to be sitting at their desks but still moving around. They will be able to concentrate for longer periods while working at their desks. Many kids like to stand and work, but then their chairs are in the way and tripping others who are walking past. With Wobble chairs we can move the chairs out of the way and children can sit but still experience movement. This will lead to greater success for those children who have a hard time concentrating otherwise.
