This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the amazing opportunity to teach 28 energetic, talented, and engaging fourth graders! They love hands-on learning!

My fourth grade scholars are empathetic and generous!

In September they initiated a school wide coin drive for Hurricane Harvey survivors. They presented a check to the Red Cross for $1,125 after only two weeks of raising money!

I teach in a Title I school in a suburban setting. My classroom consists of students from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds, family dynamics, and living situations. My students come from one parent homes, two parent homes, and homes where they are raised by a grandparent, aunt or uncle. Regardless of where my students come from, when they enter my classroom they become authors, scientists, mathematicians, readers, artists, musicians, and creators of amazing projects!

Each child learns in their own way. Some children in my classroom need to move to help them learn. Some students learn best sitting at a desk. Some students learn best lying on the floor. I love the challenge of learning about my students and meeting their diverse learning needs!

My Project

My amazing scholars love to move while they learn! My scholars are able to choose where they sit during learning activities to help them learn best. In my classroom, you will find students working on the floor using a clip board, standing by their desk, reading under their desk, or sitting in their chair and working at their desks.

Wobble seats will give my scholars another seating option in the classroom.

Wobble seats allow students to move while learning. This movement stimulates their brains and vestibular system. It allows students to stay engaged in the learning activity. Wobble seats gives students a way to move and still stay seated and able to complete their assigned task.

I plan to use the wobble seats at my reading table. The movement will help my struggling readers stay engaged and able to give 100% effort.
