This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you recall the uncomfortable blue chairs that we all had to sit in all day in school? My students still have those chairs, however I try to provide more comfortable seating for them throughout the day. We have a few wobble chairs already, but would like several more to accommodate a larger class.

My students come from all different backgrounds.

Over 80 percent of the students at our school receive free or reduced-price lunches. Many students speak languages other than English at home. They are hard workers and enjoy school. Last year our school won the most prestigious improvement award in our district- boosting test scores by around 15% in each subject. This was a combined effort with teachers and students.

My Project

We have a few Wobble Chairs for our small group table already, which we love, however, with growing class sizes, several students in each small group now need to bring their own chairs to the table. These extra stools will make our transitions between small groups more efficient. The stools also allow students to move in their seats, which increases concentration. They will also sit on the chairs when they're working on math skills or reading skills on the computers. The markers will be used to create engaging anchor charts and the sharpener will replace our old, very loud one.

These chairs will help our classroom run more smoothly.

There will be no more running around to grab extra chairs- we will have all that we need. All of the students working at the small group table and computer stations will be able to move freely- and reap the concentration benefits associated with sitting on Wobble Chairs. Kids are made to move, so I'd like to allow them to do that while they're working! Thank you so much for considering donating to our classroom.
