This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year I am privileged to learn and grow with my class one more year as we looped together from kindergarten to first grade in a blended co-teaching model with an awesome Exceptional Education Teacher. We get to watch 20 passionate high energy first grade students stroll through our classroom door with huge smiles on their faces each morning and a true desire to learn.
Our school is very diverse and full of students who have high energy while wanting to learn.
The majority of our students live in homes that English is not their main language spoken. The only chance at learning English is within our school walls. We incorporate lots of hands-on activities as well as lots of opportunities for students to speak in their first and second language. All of our students are extremely eager to strengthen their academic and English language skills.
My Project
By donating and supporting our project, your contributions will help create a flexible seating environment where students can focus while experiencing unique movement options. There are many special needs and active students that have to move to help gain focus when learning. Our students come through our classroom door so excited and eager to learn but have a hard time sitting on the rug or in a hard metal chair all day. The Kore wobble chairs will allow their bodies to constantly move when needed throughout lessons to help them stay focused. The wobble chairs are great for seat work and center time where they can rock, wobble or lean while completing a task, work, or following along during a lesson.
This project will allow more seating options in our classroom which will help keep students focused throughout structured and non-structured lessons as well as help foster their learning styles.
Students will be able to move freely without distracting others throughout the day. By having options, students will have access to a variety of ways to stay focused while maximizing their learning.
Often times, we lose a lot of instructional time trying to get our "wiggles" out from sitting still during instructional times on metal chairs. These flexible seating options will help eliminate this missed instructional time by allowing them to move, bounce and wiggle while learning alone side their peers.
