Wobble Chairs for Focused Scholars

My students need Lakeshore Wobble Chairs to "wiggle while they work"!

My Students

Many of the students that I have the pleasure of teaching come from economically disadvantaged homes. The majority are on free and reduced lunch due to their socio-economic status. Several are also being raised in single parent homes, or by appointed guardians. As a result of their home lives, some students are diagnosed with learning disability and emotional disorders. In addition to this, many lost their homes during Hurricane Harvey.

Yet, despite having all odds against them, they come to school every day with a desire to learn.

For many of my students, school is their "safe place". It is where they can go, to get away from the trials and tribulations that come with being a child in poverty. Because of this, it is my goal to not only make learning meaningful; but to create and environment that is respectful, safe, fun and designed to encourage students to make their own positive choices.

My students love to work with technology, they also enjoy having opportunities to move around the room and work in a space that is comfortable for them. Many also have a passion for dancing, music and art.

My Project

By incorporating Wobble Chairs into our flexible classroom, student seating options will be increased. Wobble Chairs are the perfect option for students who prefer to sit to complete their work; but continuously have trouble controlling the "wiggles". They will provide a way for them to safely move and positively move in the classroom. As a result, negative behaviors are minimized and the classroom becomes more efficient.

When students are given choices, they learn to take control of their own learning.

Provided Wobble Chairs for my students is just another way to guide them towards independence. They will learn how they work best as well as how to solve problems for themselves.
