Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Main Street is an elementary school located in the beautiful city of South Central, Los Angeles serving Predominantly Hispanic, Black, and Other non Anglo students. Our students strive academically as our teachers make every effort to ensure that ALL students succeed. Main Street students are curious learners always thirsty for more knowledge. To keep up with their varying learning styles, they require an abundance of hands on activities that will quench their diverse learning needs. The biggest challenge is not having enough resources to do so.

The city of Los Angeles is well known to be "The Fashion District" and our students lack that knowledge despite living only 3 miles away.

My Project

Due to limits on school funding, our students lack extracurricular opportunities. Our very limited budget only allows for basic classroom essentials and unfortunately there is no additional income to create clubs that promote creativity.

The city of Los Angeles is well known to be "The Fashion District" and our students lack that knowledge despite living only 3 miles away, my goal is to enlighten students about the fashion industry and inspire students to become active explorers, learn the basics of the industry, teach them how to create simple patterns, and have them create their first very own piece of clothing (shirt, pant, dress, purse, pillow case, pjs, aprons, headbands, various sewing crafts, etc).

My hopes are to spike a new interest, start a new hobby, or perhaps even invite them onto a new stepping stone towards their future career.

This opportunity will only be available, with donations from kind hearted people like you. We are asking for donations to get a "Wizard Fashion Club" started and going. Students will gain a better understanding about the arts, math, and technology. They deserve experiences that foster creativity and hands on learning.
