My Students

My students are are really great at supporting one another and creating a mutually respectful environment. My students do not always have access to resources that are necessary for successful learning in my courses, but they do their best to make appropriate adjustments.

My students deserve the best, and I want to provide that for them.

They are very intelligent and caring individuals who will be grateful for whatever they receive from donors. These students understand how their parents, teachers, and administration work hard to obtain classroom resources, and the students show their appreciation by striving to achieve academic excellence.

My Project

All of my students must have the opportunity to work on their own when it comes to the tasks they are assigned. With about 32 students in each of my classes, it is difficult for students to work individually because they need access to a computer or tablet, which is not always possible. Although pair/group work is important, students need to be able to demonstrate their abilities in a solo type of format. The tablet will provide opportunities for students to develop and expand their knowledge creatively in a couple of ways. One of the ways includes coding in multiple computer science languages, and the other is composing music through code.

It is always saddening when students tell me how they lack technological resources at home.

The tablet and accessories will be matched with these students as a priority so as to provide equity in the classroom. I observe how students sometimes feel inadequate compared to their peers who seem more versed with technology, and I know that the resources I am requesting will fix this problem.

It is a very unique experience for students to learn computer science through coding and music. To my knowledge, my school is one of the few who utilizes this kind of curriculum. This specific iPad and these accessories are the best resources that will lead to success for each and every student in my class.
