With One Table... We Can Eat, Talk and Learn Altogether
My students need a early childhood activity table so that they can sit and stand at the table comfortably. The size of the table will allow them to easily access and manipulate the activities or tasks given.
My students are kindergarten students attending school for the first time. Many of my students did not participate in a typical preschool setting and this is their first year in a more traditional school setting. My students are individuals whom all happen to share a label of Autistic. Despite this label, it is my goal as their teacher to have them achieve to the best of their abilities and teach them the skills they need to become successful learners along their educational careers.
My Project
My Kindergarten Autistic students need access to an activity table which is physically accommodating to their size. My students do not currently have access to a table their size and we are currently unable to sit together as a class. One table could change the dynamic of my student's day. The kidney shape of the table will allow for everyone to sit comfortably and an adult to easily access and support each child. We will continue to use the table throughout the day from learning how to write, read, cut, color and count. The students will be able to sit comfortable and move freely in their own space at the table.
