This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"I continue to believe that if children are given the necessary tools to succeed, they will succeed beyond their wildest dreams!" -David Vitter, U.S. senator. My students are mathematicians, who love exploring and learning.
My students come from many diverse backgrounds and live in low socio-economic communities.
Our school is a Title 1 school and resources are limited. We currently only have 2 working desktop computers in our classroom and a SmartBoard. Outside of school, the majority of my students have no access to any form of technology. Although my students come from these different backgrounds with many different experiences, they all come to school with a desire to learn and be successful. Every morning I greet my students with a warm "Good Morning" and smile. They return my morning greeting with a cheerful and exciting "Good Morning, Ms. P", eager to learn the math material being taught for the day. In our classroom, my student are constantly moving and engaging in interactive, hands-on activities. My students favorite workstation to go to is the Technology Station.
My Project
The students will use the iPads and iPad minis daily in meaningful ways which will help increase their academic progress. Additional technology will allow more students to access the meaningful and effective online resources provided to them by our school district. Through the funding of this project, more of my students will be able to use the iPad and iPad minis to access the online resources provided by the school district. The iPads will provide the students access to practice and master the math skills being learned. Each one of my students deserves and would greatly benefit from the exposure, practice and knowledge they will gain from this technology.
My students will be given more opportunities to access online resources and educational apps though the use of the iPads and iPad minis.
This will increase their success on the content they are learning. My students will also be able to make real world connections through the iPads being used in the classroom and also learn responsibility through using and taking good care of the iPads. The donations to this project will also help meet the diverse learning styles and needs of my students.
