My students need enough dry erase markers to last us until the end of the school year. We save paper by using dry erase markers and white boards for classwork and testing.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our classroom is very unconventional. Upon entering, you will find there are no desks, but rather, plenty of comfy learning spaces with ground level tables/lap desks on the carpet for scholars to use. We work in cooperative groups around the room, completing math while listening to low music.
I have 41 inquisitive, intelligent, poverty stricken scholars with beautiful minds.
They are always on the move. Working in groups, or individually around the room to complete various math tasks is how we spend our days. It's amazing how much of a thirst, natural curiosity and appreciation my scholars have for mathematics at such a young age.
My Project
We like to save paper in our classroom. In efforts to support this motion of recycling to help keep our earth clean, we have decided to do away with notebooks and instead, write on handheld dry erase boards.
There are certain activities that we have to use paper for, but the majority of our day is spent doing rigorous math activities around the room while I teach targeted small group lessons. Example activities are partner games, writing about math, technology time with math, and most the most popular activity, dry erase math.
My scholars have dry erase task cards and games they use to solve activities based on our state standards for mathematics. Dry erase markers are also used for testing purposes as well.
We have been working hard and making so much progress this year, however, last week, we encountered a problem.
The dry erase markers we have are all dried out due to so much use. My little scholars are completely perplexed about how to function without their markers.
Funding this project would make a huge difference in the productivity of scholar work and motivation in our classroom.
There are many dry erase and learning activities that my scholars no longer can do, simply because the markers are dried out. No more dry erase games, carpet work, tests, etc., because a dry erase marker is essential for dry erase games. Having dry erase makers will bring back the activities in which my scholars love, and it will help us continue to save paper and clean our planet.
