My Students
My students will be transitioning from traditional school settings to virtual learning. There is a need to move students to asynchronous learning, where they will become independent yet still have the motivation and the drive to explore.
My students are wonderful.
They have overcome obstacles that many can not imagine. Their resilience and wiliness to adapt to the environment or situation is inspiring. We have had meetings where everyone could not be on at one time. They may pop-in and out because the WIFI may malfunction and they are 'kicked' out the live lesson but, soon I hear the ding (my virtual doorbell) and they are back ready to learn.
We have overcome so much in a short time. My students have learned about Google Slides, Forms and various other online tools to help them submit documents, take quizzes and further their knowledge of math. They are truly becoming 21st century students.
My Project
My students are trying to use a mouse to write numbers and work out mathematical problems. It is very difficult to precisely make a 5, 6 or a 3. But they try and they have to explain a lot! They also try to underline the important facts of the word problem and usually end up covering the entire problem. With a stylus they can write neatly and organize their problems so they will flow....
Many have touch screen devices but, they were not given stylus to use while in class.
