I want to help my students learn Mandarin through 3D printed Chinese characters. We are in need of 3D Printer Filament. Students will have the opportunity to manipulate and assemble various radicals to form Chinese characters. The 3D Chinese character will serve as a great hands-on manipulative for young learners to learn and familiarize themselves with a wide array of radicals and characters.
Chinese is one of the most difficult languages to learn.
However, learning Chinese with 3D print manipulatives can be a fun and engaging experience for younger learners. Kindergarten students in our Mandarin dual immersion program learn 90 high-frequency Mandarin words by the end of the school year. Having a 3D printer allows me to make color-coded Chinese character manipulatives to support students' learning. Characters will be printed in different colors (color-coded) according to common radicals. These manipulatives serve as kinesthetic and visual tools for students to grasp and internalize how characters are formed.
