This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Who still does research with a paper and pencil?!? Unfortunately, here in the South Bronx, my students are. I would like to upgrade out equipment so that we will be able to research online, document our work with pictures, and take notes, all on the same device.

My students are from the poorest congressional district in the United States.

This is very evident in the resources that they have access to. Despite this, many of them are motivated to learn and are interested in pursuing higher education. As their 8th grade teacher, I would like to equip them with the skills needed not only to be successful in high school, but in college as well.

My Project

I am requesting an Ipad mini to use both in and out of class. Students would be able to use the tablet to do research, to take photos of observations and of each other working, as well as to take notes electronically. It is essential to provide students with up to date technology so that they will be able to compete with students from more affluent districts who have a lot of experience with current technology.

This technology enriches the learning environment for students by keeping them motivated and engaged.

I look forward to integrating this technology in my course. Our kids thank you for your contribution and active interest in their learning!
