My Project
Project 2 of 3 | A Whole New World of Calm: Granting Wishes in the Counseling Office. Join us on a magical journey to build a calming, supportive space for students to manage emotions, reduce anxiety, and reset. I have the privilege of working with incredible students—bright, curious, kind, and resilient. Many of them are navigating not only academics, but also big emotions, personal challenges, and growing social pressures. They show up every day, often carrying more than we see, and they deserve support that meets them right where they are. This project is the second of a three-part series to transform our space into a haven of emotional support and wellness.
Wish #2: The Genie’s Library focuses on building a small library of comforting, inclusive SEL books for students to read in calming spaces.
Students come to me with heavy hearts—grief, anxiety, friendship drama, self-doubt. Sometimes they don’t have the words to express what they’re going through. That’s where stories help. Books are like genies: they open up a whole new world of understanding.
This second wish is for a library of SEL books and read-alouds that support emotional learning and reflection. Topics include
- Anxiety and mindfulness
- Diversity, inclusion, and identity
- Resilience and self-worth
-Grief and big changes
Books like A Little Spot of Emotion, The Invisible String, and I Am Enough will help students feel seen and understood.
When a child finds themselves in a story, healing begins. These books offer quiet comfort and powerful connection.
Thank you for helping students find healing in stories—and granting our second wish!
