This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I started teaching since 1998 and over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to teach grade levels first through sixth. It has been so rewarding, challenging at times, but so rewarding. I think the best part is hearing from students I had 20 years ago, now with children of their own. One of the things they remember the most is the Essential 55!

While teaching in my first district, I was thrilled to have a PD day with Ron Clark!

He was engaging, motivating, and refreshing. I bought his book, posters, and Essential Raps CD (even if that meant eating ramen the rest of the month) because I was going to use them! And boy did I!

For many years, I used that CD until it was all scratched up and skipping! My students not only learned the Essential 55, they created a dance for it. They LOVED the songs and learned so much.

Today, I am in need of some motivational speaking to put the spring in my step and passion back in my lesson plans! I have always wanted to attend The Ron Clark Academy professional development days, but have never been able to make it happen. This experience will give me tons of ideas to bring back to my amazing students. I would be so grateful for any help.
