Help me give my students an assortment of engaging and fun STEM activities and games so they can collaboratively challenge their minds!
Hooray! This project is fully funded
At our PK-4 school in Marion, Iowa we work hard to foster classrooms that involve collaboration, confidence, discussion, and ownership over learning. Our students are held to a high standard of learning and they live up to it because of their self-confidence and the faith the teachers put in them!
My students are excited learners who love to engage in activities involving cooperation and exploration with their peers.
They find passion for learning when they are given the opportunity to be involved in fun yet challenging, even mind boggling at times, activities! They love to challenge one another's thinking and explore various avenues of solutions and learning.
I am always amazed watching them at work either independently or with peers attempting to solve a problem or create something. It really is authentic learning at the core when they are given a task and just go at it!
I am requesting funds to support my mission to continue implementing STEM projects in my classroom! The money will purchase various STEM activities, games and toys that will be used during our “soft start” when the students first arrive to school in the morning. What a wonderful time of the day to work with peers on fun and engaging activities! I love that they walk into the classroom excited to be there and ready to get going on some challenging activities with peers! It creates a positive learning environment right off the bat in the morning. These items will also be utilized during other parts of the day when they support any material in our curriculum as well as team-building and growth mindset practice. STEM activities and games lead to some wonderful conversations regarding grit and attitude!
Allowing students time to create, collaborate, and engage in discussion that builds relationships is so important.
The items requested will benefit logical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, and so much more. Some of them align with learning we do in math and science as well! The snap circuits, for example, fit in perfectly with our science unit on Energy!
I can't wait to see their faces when they see the amazing choices they have to explore and learn from! Thank you for your support!
