Wireless Microphones Allow Students Voices to Be Heard Safely
Help me give my students wireless microphones so their voices can proudly be heard clearly as they create video projects and they can maintain current Covid CDC safety practices such as masks and social distance.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As middle school students develop into young adults, it can be challenging for them to learn to express themselves. I have found that the Raub Video club is a great way for students to find their voice and develop leadership skills.
The average student in my school comes from a family at, or below, the national poverty level.
It is a challenge for them to learn about opportunities outside of the city.
A significant number of students are English as a Second Language Learners and practicing their communication skills is very important.
Communication through video allows students to take their time and think about the message they want to deliver and the best way to deliver it. Through the power of video making; students find their voice, collaborate, learn about the outside world, and discover their creative as well as leadership potential.
My Project
Video Club members play an important Role at RMS. The entire school benefits from the information they share with other students, staff, and families. Club members discover the power of their voices as their messages are received from a large audience.
However, the Covid pandemic threatens to mute the voices of my students.
Members interview other students, staff, and people in the community. During the Covid crisis, keeping students safe interferes with their communication. Their voice is muffled behind their mask. The club has a couple of clip-on wired microphones, which are better to hear people clearly, but the wire forces students in an unsafe proximity to the person they are interviewing as well as the camera person.
Providing wireless lavalier microphones will allow video club students to interview others without risking their safety or not being heard. Wireless microphones will allow interviewers, interviewees, and the camera crew to maintain a distance recommended by the CDC. Lavaliers can be clipped to different places, including masks, to optimize the best way to hear the speaker clearly.
