My Project
Listening to stories increases students’ imagination, creativity, and supports fluency. Supporting student learning with various educational resources is important. My students need wireless headphones to connect to a class iPad as a listening center. These will be used in groups during center time to increase their learning.
My students attend a wonderful school in a small town in California.
They come from various backgrounds including different cultures and socioeconomic statuses. Having the ability to frequently listen to wonderful stories read aloud is crucial to student growth. The students in my class are at various levels in their education... some exceeding standards, while others are struggling to meet standards.
The wireless headphones connected to an iPad as a listening center will mostly be used in small groups during "Center Time". During centers, students have the chance to work with various hands-on learning activities while I am focused on reading with a small group of students. It is vital that students are actively learning independently while I am teaching reading in a small group setting. Having wireless headphones will allow them to be easily used by students and not become tangled.
A listening center will increase students’ excitement for reading and active learning while also giving me a chance to effectively teach reading. In Kindergarten, it is crucial that students learn foundational skills for reading while also becoming independent learners.
