I teach 210 amazing third, and fourth grade girls on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Many of my students are English language learners and children with special needs. Most qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. All of my students are creative, thoughtful, and eager learners, and much of their scientific knowledge this year will come from inquiry and research. It has been so exciting to see them fully engaged, each day, as they learn through collaboration and exploration with their peers.
My Project
Using technology to create a learning environment that improves student engagement and achievement is exciting yet challenging. Part of the challenge is having the necessary equipment that facilitates peer collaboration and assists teachers in designing and delivering lessons more efficiently. That is why I am hoping to get funding for a wireless speaker, keyboard, and mouse. With the help of a wireless speaker, my students and I will be able to create and stream videos for all to listen and enjoy. On the other hand, the keyboard and mouse will allow me and students to move around the classroom while presenting.
Technology in the classroom can be intimidating but accessories such as a wireless speaker, keyboard and mouse will help get our classroom ready for the challenge.
