Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Look, Up in the Sky! It's a Bird! It's a Plane! It's an aerospace scholar! Do you remember dreaming of soaring through the clouds? Be a S.T.E.M. superhero and help our aerospace scholars feel the beauty of flight.
We are a Title 1 school in the heart of Texas.
My students are inquisitive, energetic and curious. We are a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics magnet middle school. My students want to grow up to be mechanical engineers, environmental engineers, roboticists and the like.
My Project
Part of closing the digital divide and promoting S.T.E.M. includes showing students how they can best use technology for their own benefit. Our aerospace scholars dream of being pilots, astronauts, aerospace engineers and the like. Allowing them to experience flight simulation with a joystick makes the experience more real. With a joystick, the students are able to tangibly experience the four forces of flight with their hands. My students need joysticks so they can learn about aviation through flight simulation software and a game pad will help them participate in virtual robotics challenges.
Putting this technology in the hands of my students will open up a wealth of knowledge.
Encouraging students to be more literate in science, technology, engineering and mathematics will not only have a positive impact on the students, but will provide a boost to future technological innovations that may impact us all.
